Powerhead problems ?

Do yamaha hpdi 225 motors Have problems with moisture getting inside the powerhead

They are designed to have water flowing through the cooling passages of the power head, but if you are meaning getting water into the cylinders themselves, no not unless something is broke.

i talked to a guy who said he has had 3 powerheads put on under warranty on 2005 model . He is trying to sell the boat cause the warranty ends this month. im thinking about buying a boat w/ 07 225 hpdi, any advise?

Any motor can ingest water spray through the air intakes of the engine cover. Usually you will find a speed wheel, transducer, or hull fitting that is spaying water up near the motor when running at speed. Just like a station wagon with the back window down on a dusty road, an outboard also has a low pressure area just behind it and can suck the spray into the vents and all over the motor.

thanks for the reply.So you wouldnt feel skiddish about buying a yamaha HPDI?
