Welder said he had a tough time it was spattering alot. Lots of contaminates in the aluminum. He said you never know how its going to go. All depends on quality of materials used when casting the block.

Have a surfacing cut taken off the top of the cylinder block to make sure gaskets will seat properly.
Take it to a engine rebuilding shop for this.
