Powerhead compatability

I have a bad powerhead on a 1990 Evinrude xp150. I have located a 1989 Johnson 225 powerhead and most everything that goes with it. Obviously probably not a direct swap, but what would be required to fit one to the other. Thanks Josh

go here and look up both engine diagrams and parts list. especially exhaust, and carbs

As far as powerhead interchangeability between those two, the spark plugs will interchange. Pretty much nothing else is the same.

A direct swap will be any V6 crossflow with flat exhaust plates.
