I just joined this site and am impressed thus far. I have a 87 Four Winns 190 Horizon with a Quicksilver Commander Shifter with the trailer button and up/down trim control. My up trim control stopped working about 2 years ago but have been able to control trim by pushing the trailer button a little and adjusting down accourdingly to wake. I recently loaded my boat on the trailer and my trailer button (p/n 87-88790A 2 which can't be found anywhere) didn't work. By pushing the button in different spots I was able to bring up the outdrive. I bought a new bow trim switch but the wire colors do not match up to the original switch assembly. One of the wires from the bow switch gets directly sodered to the trailer button. Has anyone installed one of these and if so do you have any suggestions for me besides "Good Luck"? The purp/white and green/white wires seem to match the colors. But the new switch has a brown/white wire and the exsisting wire is a red/blue or red/purple wire and not brown/white wire is anywhere. No sence cutting important wires if I do not have to. Thanks everyone.

Re: Power Trim/Tilt switch and Trailer Button Quicksilver Commander

Thank you for the info. I have printed it and have read it. How do I check for a faulty trailer switch? I see that the connections on the back of the trailer button are soldered. That means I need to cut the red/purple and re-solder the brown/white wire to the trailer button? There is no red/purple wire on my new up/down bow button. Also, any new ideas on how I can find the trailer button(p/n 87-88790a 2)? From what I have read, everyone is looking for the same switch assembly which no longer exsists. Thanks
