I have a 1999 Johnson 115. The outboard power trims up and down fine. The problem is it slowly falls down. It will not stay upright. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you,

Re: power trim repair question

Take a look at the port side of your motor bracket and see if there's a hole through it with a stamp that says "Manual Release"

There a valve in there with a screw head on it. It's there so you can release pressure and lower/raise the motor manually in the event of a PT&T failure.

Make sure the valve is closed all way. It works just like a screw- clockwise to close, counter-clockwise to open.

It was closed. I lowered the unit and turned counter clockwise to open the value. Then turned clockwise to close it. It still lowers.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you,

Vic
