can you put power trim on these old motors, this thing is heavy as hell and i dont trust picking it up by the cover bieng that it is so heavy, it has the two shocks on the inside, you think these could be replaced with rams?

Pick up any power trim/tilt from any Chrysler or Force 75-150 HP up to about 1990. It will bolt right on and the electrical is quite easy to adapt too. You have your choice of 2 wire systems or 3 wire systems. 3 wire is older and the motor is smaller. It does not use relays but can be easily adapted to use them; two wire was always designed to use relays. This is simple electrical wiring though, and if you look up other threads you will undoubtably come up with what information you need.

You may want to change the engine clamps since the early Chryslers had hand screws to hold them onto the transom. Later Chrysler engines had the clamps enlarged slightly and the screws now were tightened by 9/16 wrench.

Later Force engines used through bolts passing through the clamps and transom to mount the engine. I prefer the later Chrysler type clamps. They are more resistant to damage from corrosion.

Through all these changes, the bolt holes for mounting the pump and the holes for the lower shaft that holds the cylinders never changed. As I said before, any one will bolt right up.

Come to think of it: some early model Evinrudes used the same 3 wire motor, reservoir, and pump assembly. So, if it looks right, it very well may be right.
