Re: Power Tilt/Trim question

Hi All

Sorry to re-hash, but I want to grab a new one in case my repair is not reliable. I got it working, but, I also don't like the idea of it failing- especially with kids in the boat, so, what pump motor do I buy on ebay?? There are plenty around, but if someone has the time and inclination to post the correct listing, I'll buy it, or at least point me in the right direction.....;-)

a new one? between $120 and $200?
New Power Tilt Trim Motor Volvo Penta with Pump 852928 852928 1 EVH4002 6225 | eBay
Tilt Trim Pump Valve Force 75 90 115 120 130 135 New | eBay
Pump Kit for Tilt Trim Motor OMC 75 90 115 120 130 135 Force TRM8000 | eBay

The motor is good. Surprisingly good. If I had a Force and needed a trim motor, that is the one I would use.
The valve body is cr@p. weak metal, cheap rubber, sloppy tolerances. If you buy one, then make sure to keep your original VB so that you can put it back on after the chinese POS breaks. Personally, I wouldn't even waste the time installing one on any engine 90HP or larger. About 20% of them bleed off or drip when new.

To my knowledge the only company makes new valve bodies capable of doing 75-150HP engines is API. You can spot the API because it has recessed plugs on the bottom. They are never sold for under $200. In fact I only know of two companies selling them. go2marine and ebasicpower. Valve Body | Force Tilt Trim Motors

Any new VB with recessed plugs is API. Any VB with allen keyed plugs is Taiwan. API=good Taiwan=bad
There is only one asian factory and they only make one valve body. It does not matter what you pay or what the description says. If it has allen key plugs then it is the crummy asian product. The only difference between a the $60 model and the $160 model is profit.

Re: Power Tilt/Trim question

Sorry this thread is a bit old, but on my chrysler tilt trim motor at the top of the rotor is a ball bearing, if you have taken the rotor out and turned it upside down you will have lost it. The top of the rotor has an indent for the ball bearing. I have fixed 3 of these Chrysler tilt trims, each bloody time having to get my motor rewinder to braze the cables back on. Every one I pulled apart had the ball bearing on the top and I told the motor rewinder to NOT lose it or the bottom shim.
