Power tilt help needed

I have bought two used power tilt units, the first of which was a bad unit and the second was a three wire instead of two for a 2002 9ohp merc. I am interested in putting an aftermarket unit on the boat to save some money but was wondering how hard it would be and how good are the unit . Any help would be appreciated.
