Power pack retrofit

Hey Guys, I have a 1975 Johnson 115 that I suspect has a bad power pack. I have a good pack off of my 1985 Rude 120 parts motor. Can I make it work? The newer pack has 5 wires from the sensors as opposed to the older pack's four. What is the extra wire for? What is the difference between the two different styles? I also heard of someone using a GM ignition module to replace their pack, anyone ever heard of this?

The 75 is a screw type pack? the 85 a plug in? if so they have different operating voltages and are not interchangeable.
