The 2006 Premier PTX 25' pontoon I am looking at does NOT have the power assist option for steering. I will go take a look at it either this weekend or later next week and see for myself. But I would like your input on the utility and 'necessity' of the Power Assist option. The motor is a Suzuki 225 single prop.

If it IS something which you would recommend... any ideas about how difficult a 'retrofit' would be? Would it be worth the cost? I potentially will get a pretty good deal on this boat, so if it is a reasonable retrofit, I would be willing to get it completed.

Re: Power Assist steering

If it at least has Hydraulic steering you should be fine. Power assist systems are about $1500 - $1600 if you install them.

I have test driven other toons with 225hp and SeaStar Hydraulic systems and they were fine.
