Derwood you just gave me a great laugh. I needed that, thanks mate!<br /><br />OK guys, I believe you. Thats three of the nastiest photographs of Gods wee creatures I've ever seen!<br />It looks like a cross between a rat on steriods and a skinned flying squirrel that somebody backed their 4x4 over.<br />Sorry to be so negative but that one would take someone special to love it. I couldn't like it even with gravy.<br /><br />"Pass the garlic salt dear"......."what's this supposed to be?"<br />"Well you go right out and put it back on the tyre this instant!"<br />Ross

As Jeff Foxwourhty would say..........<br /><br />You might be a red-neck when........<br /><br />You think Possum is<br />"The Other White Meat" <br /><br />You think fast food is hitting a possum at 65 mph<br /><br />Derwood this is for you man:<br />You use a weedeater in your living room. <br />Your front porch collapses<br />and four dogs git killed. <br />Your huntin dawg had a litter of puppies in the living room and nobody noticed. <br />You lit a match in the bathroom and your house exploded right off it's wheels. <br />The centerpiece on your dining room table<br />is an original signed work<br />by a famous taxidermist. <br />Your house still has the<br />"WIDE LOAD" <br />sign on the back. <br />YOU'VE EVER COME HOME<br />AND FOUND CRIME SCENE TAPE <br />ACROSS YOUR FRONT PORCH. <br />You wish your outhouse was as nice<br />as those at the state park. <br />You hammer bottle caps into the<br />frame of your front door to make it look nice.

Re: Possum a la derwood?

Actually (and I guess I am odd) I like the critters. We used to have one that ate the left over dog food on the back porch. It had a litter and taught it's young to come up and do the same. I actually think the dog used to leave some just so she could watch it through the glass. Now before I get blasted I like all animals but I used to hunt and would agian w/o any problems. I don't think a love/concern for animals (to the point I pull over and remove turtles off the road even if running late) or saving baby rabbits from a cat and hand raising them conflicts with being a hunter or fisherman. I think it complements my love for the outdoors.

Re: Possum a la derwood?

I had a neighbor in my old neighborhood that had a family in her attic. The darn things chewed a whole in the roof the size of a tire. I mean they chewed threw shingles and tar paper and plywood, they chewed threw it all. Them things are just plain mean. My buddies dogs got into it with a big one in the backyard once too. This thing must have weighed 50lbs. It took three pitbulls and a .38 to put this thing down!

Peter....I, nor should anyone elese, blast you for a love of animals....even a stinken old possume.<br /><br />They have a place....each and every one....except love bugs.<br /><br />I have gotten to the point where I stop and move rattlers off the road. Their just not around as much as they used to be...and we need them.<br /><br />The year before last i got a pigmy off the road...I did not let him go on the other side because there were some kids that saw me get him and if i let him go....well lets just say one or the other would have gotten got.....Anyway i put him in the back of the truck with the intention of letting him go down the road a piece....I got to daydreamen and forgot he was back there....My wife was not happy when she came back inside from putting a bag of garbage in the back of my truck. <br /><br />I guess i can see her side of it....It was'nt the 200th and it won't be the last. <br /><br />Derwood.

Re: Possum a la derwood?

you kill the dern things an all it does is piisses them off .. i always thought that 'playin' possum' was when they gleefully nall your face off... but it's actually when you pump 3 shots from a 38 into them an they come back to life ( faux dead ) than they nall off your face... they ought to wear hockey masks.. the JASON of the marsupials

Derwood, <br /><br />Is there a bow season for turkey skeeters. <br /><br />You should make a big monkeys fist knot with a lead grape shot for the suprise turkey skeeter attack. The weapon of choice for a Jedi-Angler. :D <br /><br />Heck it might even work on opossums.<br /><br />The Road Kill Cafe menu.<br />There moto is "You kill It We Grill It" <br />Awsome possum :D <br /> http://www.worldnewsstand.net/4fun/RoadKillCafe.htm <br />

Re: Possum a la derwood?

You can see the guy painting the road thought about it for just a second. Then thought, "Naw, it's just a possum". There's an ever so slight waver where the paint meats the possum. Good one sport.<br />We all know what a yellow stripe down ones back means. What the heck does two yellow stripes over a possums back mean?<br />Ross

Re: Possum a la derwood?

Used to bowfish. It got to where I was almost unable to miss. I have split several brown water snaked with fish arrows and even got tired of trying to do that. I still have all the equipment and may yet go out agian but it actually got too easy and the non-game fish got scarce. Don't hunt anymore. Too many people in the woods and i am careful whi I will let have a chance to shoot at me if you know what I mean.

Re: Possum a la derwood?

I think that two yellow stripes down a possume's back means differant things to differant pepole:<br /><br />To a redneck it might mean: "Soups on" (not this redneck though)<br /><br />To an old man it might mean: "I'd better walk faster!"<br /><br />To a Kindergarden teacher it might mean: "Ok....the prelimanary test worked....now how do i get little Johny-pain-in-the-but out there?"<br /><br />To an Ethiopian it could mean the differance between 8 starving children or food for a month for the faimly.<br /><br />Just a guess though.<br /><br />I got tired of refletching my carbon arrows after practiceing with broadheads at 40 yrds.<br /><br />It is possible to get those things tuned to shoot as well as a rifle at short distances with the right goodys on it.<br /><br />I've never had the urge to bow fish....My bow is to short to get off a good cast :D <br /><br />Turkey skitter season was at the same time as for pheasents but they where having trouble telling them apart so they moved it to summertime in most of the US.<br /><br />What we need to do is instagate a war between the possumes and the turkey skitters....mabey they will cancel each other out.<br /><br />hopefulwood.
