I work with a guy that has a 1979 Bayliner Skagit 2275 for sale.

He bought it a couple of years ago and has been working at rebuilding it, but it has gotten the best of him.

Here is the deal.

There is a it is a 350 mercrusier, with an I-drive supposedly. The serial numbering is a bit perplexing, but... the gimbal housing has a hole corroded through on the port side, and she obviously takes in water.

The lower unit has been apart and inspected, not rebuilt, and seems ok.

The bearing in the gimbal housing are OK, so I was wondering if someone could get away with some sort of repair using epoxy or something, rather than replace the gimbal housing, which may be more than I am interested in doing.

I could get into this deal for ~$3500, is this reasonable?
