Don't really listen to music much on the boat because i prefer nature and two stroke sounds when doing that and for new house with new deck we decided not to install an outdoor system like we had around the pool at the old house.

we still want some good music occasionally

I have had a beats pill (v1) that was good until it is not. Bought dad one as well which crapped but his crapped under warranty and is still going strong.

Any recommendations?

Flip is great. If you want something even smaller, the clip is also good. The flip sounds better but I like the clip because I can keep it really quiet at the beach so it doesn't reach beyond our immediate area.

I use a Sony Flex. My daughter likes her

Sony SRS-XE300 X-Series.

I would go the Best Buy and listen to some different models..

I have both the Clip and the Flip (JBL). I like and use them both and they were both cheap and have held up well.

I will vouch for their sturdiness.
I use the wheel well of the truck as a sounding board when out on the beach. One day, left it on the tire and drove off. Went back out to the beach to look for it.

Found the tire tracks where we parked. Getting dark...something buried beneath the sand caught my eye. I couldn't believe it still worked after being run over and buried in sand.

i will be dead before i drive 45 minutes one way to be ignored and or abused by a big box retailer.

Amazon has a perfectly fine return policy.
I was thinking going to Best Buy so you can actually hear the speakers, then go to Amazon and buy the one you liked... Take the Mrs, go out to dinner or do whatever in the big city....

we leave the big city is what we do unless its going to the airport.

Three things will get me to / close to Nashville or even now Murfreesboro:

Chiefs v Titans if we can afford the dam tickets anymore.

Nashville Symphony Orchestra doing Star Trek movie soundtrack live. If you ever have a chance for similar and you are a Trek fan this is a must on your bucket list before you die. Prices be damned.

A Wait Wait show. Been two two, might even fly to Chicago to watch one but like Chiefs, prices are way high since they became famous.

We do a fancy dinner and a hotel [with points - she gets a ton when she travels to India plus our regular spend] with late check out. Usually a saturday or sunday drive home so no big city traffic usually.

I've had a JBL charge 4 for several years. Good lasting power and still sounds great.
