I recently rebuilt a boat. Transom and floor rotted. Everything. After being rebuilt, sitting in the water, the transom sits alittle higher(persumablely because of less weight from water logged wood and I moved aproximently 120 lbs of batteries under the center console instead of by the transom )
It is a 17 foot boat with a 70 hp johnson turning a 15 pitch turning point cupped prop.
I cannot get it to stop porposing. The Motor was mounted too low and I raised it. It's alitle over an inch above the keel at the highest setting(bottom hole). I got it to where you can see the AV plate, but still has spray over it. Doing that helped but didn't solve
I put up to 180lbs of weight in the bow. The boat at idle wasn't leveled right and nose heavy. The prop still lifted the bow to about where it was at without the weight and still porpoises.
At times I can get it to level our at 20 to 25 mph. But anything above that to 32mph(WOT) it does it.
I do not have a hook in the keel(as I can tell) and I know the stern is not overloaded, as it's sits higher and there's physically less weight
Engine is trimmed in. Tried a 17p prop that's not cupped and there was less bow lift, but it still did it to a point(not as bad)
I wouldn't mind putting trim tabs on, but i feel I don't have the room(pics included)
I heard too many conflicting reports on hydrofoil and not sure if I should spend the money.
Anyone have any ideas how to help.
Pic of boat in water is loaded normal (without bow weight) with bow weight it puts the hook at the water level
