Popping through Exhaust

Just bought 1993 Searay with 1995 Johnson 200 (J200TXEOC) ThE engine is popping through the exhaust, will not idle smooth and low power. I been running the engine from the hose. Checked comp. running 95 to 100, checked spark at 7/16 gap good blue spark. Checked the shut off wire with ing. on getting 130mv at engine. Replace ing. switch. New fuel pump was installed last year per last owener. Noticed fuel on transom maybe leaking from carbs.

Whip the hood off and check where the fuel is coming from.
If you don't know when the carbs were last serviced then it is due.

Found fuel leaking from what the parts list is calling ORIFICE, IDLE AIR BLEED just above the brass plug in the fuel bowl. When holding pressure on the primer ball.

Repaired fuel leaking from carb. Bad fuel float needle valve. But still have popping through exhaust.

Popping through the exhaust usually indicates a lean fuel condition.

Now having problems starting. Sprayed fuel in carbs still no start. Rechecked spark good at 7/16 gap. Noticed when craking to check spark fuel blowing out of cyclinders. Could the popping be caused by timing off, popping when exhaust valve starts to open? I know very little about the history of this engine from past owner but they did remove the VRO system.

Did you check the flywheel key for being sheared ?
