poor idle

Hello,<br /><br />I have a 1986 johnson 120hp vro 4 (I think)<br />runs great at higher speeds,doesn't like to<br />idle. has been suggested to me that this is<br />most likely a carb. reed problem.<br /><br />What do you think and where can I get repair <br />info<br /><br />Thanks,big ron

Welcome Ron - Got some homework for you -<br /><br /> http://www.outboardrepairs.com/idle/ <br /><br />Another possibility is if the thermostats have been removed. Those motors do not idle well unless they get up to recomended operating temp. (140 degrees +/-). I fought this problem with my 1987 V4s for a long time.<br /><br />Howard
