Pontoon trailer bow stop?

The carpet on both of my vertical bow stops is showing wear all the way to the wood. I assume this is caused by rubbing while trailering the pontoon. Is there a better product than carpet? Would Teflon strips work? Any suggestions? Thanks!

when you pull the boat on the trailer leave the boat and inch or two off the stops and tie it down with a ratchet strap.

I've seen some with a rubber strip.

I put on some of the PVC denominational lumber stuff earlier this summer.
