Hi everyone, I am new here. I am currently replacing a rotten transom on a 1984 Ozark Fish and Ski boat. I have basically stripped the boat down, I have the top half of the boat hanging from the rafters in the garage. I took the inner fiberglass shell in front of the rotten transom out, and also replacing the last 2 feet of the wood decking in front of the transom, it was a little soft at the very back. The boat has fiberglass stringers so all is good there, and the rest of the deck is very solid. My question is I am going to use a polyester resin with my fiberglass instead of epoxy, mainly due to cost and Lowes has it locally. I have read in other post that it does not do a good job, as far as glueing my two pieces of transom board together, because without fiberglass it is brittle. What is there other than epoxy that I can use to glue my two plywood transom boards together with, and also glue the new transom to the remaining fiberglass at the very back of the boat? Has any one tried that 100% waterproof Gorilla Glue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
