This State of the Union thing got me searching the archives. I came up with this one:<br /> Talking about Candy Bar Blues<br /> Peter, Paul and Mary Late sixties<br />This one is on CD so I won't be fighting the tone arm 
<br /><br />I bought a candy bar the other day<br />only ate half gonna throw the rest away<br />When I saw a this Kid playing in the street<br /> I said hey kid you want a something to eat<br />he says whuut I said candy son he said HELP<br />then he sarted to run and I just stood there<br />watching him go half a bar of chocolate runnin' down my fingers<br /><br />Well the kid comes back in a minute or two <br />but his moms with him and the neighbors too and<br />they got the kid scared its plain to see <br />they say which one done it he points at me <br />says him and he points at me he says him<br />I say what do mean he says you then he starts screamin'<br />and I'm standin'and ever'bodys lookin'ever'bodys starin' at me<br />Howdy doodie, y'all waitin for the bus<br /> uh little late isn't it anbody got a watch<br />we could see how late it is,I gotta better idea <br />let's find somebody with a watch and stare at him<br /><br />well some stated pickin' baseball bats and others<br />started pullin' pins from their hats I think this has gone a little to far I only offer him a candy bar I say wait I say what are you doin'<br />they say prevert the kids life is ruined<br />oh well I think you better check what he's chewin'<br />cause I have a feelin' he's in the middle of a <br />buuuuubble gum orgy <br /><br />well their coming at me and I am backing away<br />and then I hear this Policeman say are you positive he's the right man I quick flicked the candy bar out of my hand he says show me<br />I says show ya what he says the candy bar you degener ut<br />and he grabs me he grabs both my hands<br />pretty easy to see, which hands got the chocolate<br /><br />Well I've had some troubled times before but none like the trip from the candy store<br />I sympathize with the kid alright, somebodys <br />nice to ya probably ain't right<br />I'll grow up I'll learn the way<br />I learn so that my later days'll be prosperous<br />Chocolate covered if I don't bite off more than I can hide
