Hello,
I'm new here and from what i've read all you guys seem to help out a bunch, so here I am. I have 89 yamaha 50 horse that I got for christmas and i'm trying to hook everything up but I have these 6 wires that I cannot figure out where they go. They come out of the the trim through the bottom motor housing, under the carb and they were just sitting there. The guy we bought it from had all the cable's wrapped inside and under the cover so when you opened it up suprise lot's of wire's with no marking's. I bought a online subscription for seloc for wiring diagram but still can't figure it out. Please if you can help it would be much appreciated and I can't afford my wife being right "again" about buying this motor. I made a couple of picture's with some writing hopefully they help too! Thank you again

before i go there are 2 more wire's one is coming the oil sensor resivoir and the other no idea either

It did help thank you, all 4 wire's were just going to the trim sensor and I from what i've read I don't need to hook it up until it's on the boat. If by any chance do you know if I need these hooked up, it is the two "solid green, and green with red stripe" wire's coming from the oil level sensor. The green/red wire is connected to the pink wire I think coming from either the cdi or control box i'm not sure. Solid green wire is not connected and wasn't when i took the cover off or do they connect to an extension for the instrument panel for warning light or level guage? Thank you again

I do not know for sure, but the wire color chart shows green/red as oil level light, and green as tach.

I would recommend getting the Yamaha service manual for your motor, it should have the wiring in it

Ok I was reading that right then i'm not very good at wire schematic's thank you very much! there was a little water or moisture in the oil tank when i removed it should there be any precaution or precedure's i should follow prior to starting or will it all work it self out when i start it up? I plan on putting a barrel under with water and starting it today!

The oil tank and lines and check valves need to be drained and cleaned to get rid of any sludge or water, filled, and purged of air. Make sure check valves function properly.
Run premix fuel/oil until you prove oil is getting where it needs to be at the proper rate

Ok I flushed all the line's and it took a little bit but I got it to fire and run but rough. Now it's to the carburator's they need cleaned badly i'm sure from sta-bil sitting in the bowl. But I did go out late last night and i was suprised when i tried it again and it ran like a champ, fired right up, idled and went through foward nuetral and reverse and kept going running good, I will still clean the carbs though. Thank you very much 99yam40 you helped alot.

And jefferson I appreciate the chart, it's different than the one I have. I will deffinately use it in the future! But compression is good, and I havn't messed with the timing or took the flywheel off, but it was running pretty good last night without any carb cleaning. and fuel air mix I'll have to look it up but I think it's 2 1/2 turns out not for sure though. I really appreciate all the help you guys handed out couldn't thank you enough!
