please help overheating 115 johnson

I have a 1979 v4 115 johnson, new water pump kit, new thermostat kit, motor is overheating pulled the two hoses coming out of heads into the t-stats and have no water coming out the heads is there something im missing? please help

Back flush the water from the two hoses to the lower unit, also make sure that the tubes from the lower unit and water pump are lined up correctly. They could be blocked with sand and mud are they could be misaligned and not pumping water to the powerhead.

there is water coming out of the telltale just not out of head into t-stats

when you take off your lower unit, you will have two plastic hoses that need to align perfectly or water will not make it to your heads or t-stats. If those are in line, check your t-stat and make sure it opens and closes(heat is up in water on stove), not that then just take it out and see if the alarm still goes off. I took my vernatherm completely out and havent had an overheat since. Just my .02

I have the same boat and HAD the same engine. Overheated it and killed it.
