PLease help me find a wiring schematic

My next door neighbor gave me a free boat a couple weeks ago. He says the boat ran perfect when he stored it 6 years ago, It needs alot of cosmetic love, but it was free so I am not complaining. So here it goes, I need a wiring schematic for a 1977 Wellcraft Cuddy cabin boat, with a 250 CID GM motor with casting number 473483, its a V6 I/O with a 165 HP mercruiser, it is a 4.1 liter motor L6.. I also need a manual for it as well. I already contacted wellcraft manufacturer and they do not have an archived manual for a boat this age. I have googled till the cows come home with no avail. I want to rewire the boat just for the heck of it to be sure it is free of defects. I know if I can't get a schematic, I will have to trace all wires manually and do it the hard way. PLease HELP ME!! lol

What you need is a MerCruiser manual plus the generic wiring diagrams in the stickies at the top of this forum area.

The GM 250 is an L6, not a V6, as far as I know. Of course, a quick look at it will answer that question.

I have found out with my project, a 93 cobia, that specific wiring schematics are dang near unheard of. If you can't find something just do what I did get a good pen, a pad, and start chasing wires. Took me about 5 hrs to diagram my wiring then i figured out should've just cut it all out and made my own harness. Oh by the way, thats the route I took and so far its looking great!

Thank you very much..So the mercruiser schematic is what I need...OK..At least I know where to start looking at this point. I had been looking for a wiring schematic for the entire boat (for the boat) instead of the motor. Thank you very much

The Mercruiser manual covers the ENGINE/OUTDRIVE wiring which consists of the the engine and charging system related wiring and the harness that runs from the engine to the controls. It DOES NOT cover the "boat" wiring which is a totally separate wiring scheme and covers the instruments and all accessories in the boat. If you look at the "Generic Boat Wiring Diagram" in the stickies at the top of this forum (not the top of this page) you will find a typical wiring diagram. Boat wiring is very generic so while the diagram may not be exact, it provides a very close indication of what your wiring looks like.
