Please help 1975 mercury 200 20hp

Ok i got it all back together. Hooked a water hose and clamp over the water intake. Started it up. No water peeing out. So i shut it right back off.

Not sure if i got the water pump hose hooked up correctly or maybe the impeller is turned over 180 degrees, if that even matters. I know it peed good when i got it. Ot sure what is going on now. Might just be my hose attachment fits too loose. It wasn’t really connected.

I have read somewhere that it has to warm up a little but before it lets the water pee out. Anyone know what i can try? I made sure to get the little key back on when changing the impeller. So it should be good there.

Idk, i thought everything looked good? But if it was missing i might not have noticed.


I ditched the muffs and borrowed a 55gal can from my neighbor. It pees perfect

My thoughts too. I didn’t test it that way at first because I didn’t have one. So i posted the question. While i was back out looking it over my neighbor walked over with his barrel.
