Short overview of the situation: 5.7 LX Alpha drive Gen II. Raw water cooled. Never experienced any overheating problems prior to this incident. Had the impeller replaced this spring. First time out 2 problems, no speedo and noticed the temp. crawling up at idle speed. The speedo issue was not a concern to me. Figured the two issues not related but the temp problem is probably an impeller issue. Returned the boat to dealer/repair shop.Dealer states they pulled some plastic debris out of the cooling system. I never saw the debris. I can see something covering the intake greats, and reducing or stopping the water flow completely. But is it possible/likely to suck in a piece of plastic large enough to cause a low speed cooling issues and still have the temp. run normal at cruising speeds.

tommays,
I never saw the old impeller. But you'd think the repair shop would mention it if in fact the old impeller was in pieces when they went to replace it.

You would think that, but you may not be right! Just a guess, but they either didn't replace the impeller at all, or when they replaced it, a blade or a few were missing & they didn't flush the system properly.
Hope it's working better now for ya.

From my conversation with the repair shop I was led to believe the plastic they found was from an external source. Like I'd sucked up something from the lake.
