Short overview of the situation: 5.7 LX Alpha drive Gen II. Raw water cooled. Never experienced any overheating problems prior to this incident. Had the impeller replaced this spring. First time out 2 problems, no speedo and noticed the temp. crawling up at idle speed. The speedo issue was not a concern to me. Figured the two issues not related but the temp problem is probably an impeller issue. Returned the boat to dealer/repair shop.Dealer states they pulled some plastic debris out of the cooling system. I never saw the debris. I can see something covering the intake greats, and reducing or stopping the water flow completely. But is it possible/likely to suck in a piece of plastic large enough to cause a low speed cooling issues and still have the temp. run normal at cruising speeds.
