So like many others I removed the pivot screw. I can see the “pivot arm” ( I think that’s what’s it’s called) hole that I need to go back through, but when I pulled it out the threads had Teflon on them. My question is does the screw it self thread to the housing or to the arm it self. The housing doesn’t seem to have threads on it.

The pivot screw actually threads in to the body of the LU on the starboard side, i.e. right at the hole where it enters. Here's a pic to give you a better idea. IT DOES NOT SCREW TO THE ARM OR SHIFT YOKE. I can think of two reasons why it has teflon tape, i.e. missing seal (or ring or flat neoprene washer) or stripped threads on the LU. Anyways, this should be fixable with thread inserts if threads are stripped, or if it's just missing an o ring.

Yea idk this lu was bought on eBay for a fair price but emptied the gear oil out and and had about a half a cup of water come out after the gear oil. It’s got 30 day warranty so may just send it back. Then the threads on the body are certainly stripped it’s pretty much completely smooth.

Well, with a stripped pivot screw for sure water intrusion will happen.
