I have restored the gelcoat of a tri-hull bass boat and need to install a new Mercury pitot tube on the transom. The old motor had a pitot pickup and tube on it and the new one doesnt. So I need to install this pickup. I understand I should use 4200 in the holes when I drill them, but exactly where above the bottom of the transom should I install the pitot tube and how far off centerline (away from the prop)?

Re: pitot tube installation

Locate and install the pitot tube assembly on the transom in a vertical position, at least 6? away from the propeller blade tips. The intake hole must also be 1-1/2? or more below the bottom of the hull. Do not place behind any runner or keel as this will affect it?s accuracy.
