That will be my next stop if I can’t get it this time. I have a small torch tip that should deliver some heat without over doing it. I just redid the whole front end and this is the last pice of the puzzle. But really that joint is tight anyway so I’m to worried about it and have lots of time to soak it.
Thx for the tip

Gee, 2 cycle engines hate any metallic additives in their oils. That is why non-detergent motor oil is used as 2 cycle oil. I always thought that ATF had lots of metallic components as part of their additive package, especially the new stuff.

Chain saws are one thing, but multicylinder high HP outboards are another. I would not use ATF as a fuel in anything.

Not using it as a fuel. You leave it sit for a day or two flush it out, reinstall the fuel line prime it and mixed fuel gets to the cylinders.

Great, how exactly do you get the tranny fluid out of the crankcase? That is where it will end up, while soaking the pistons.

On the scale of things outboard motors are pretty low stress . Ie my 90hp yamaha was 1170cc whereas a 2 stroke moto gp bike could poke out 180 -200hp from a 500cc motor .
If one was to get a crankcase with atf/acetone or fuel you would get rid of it the same way as a flooded motor ....pull the plugs out and crank it over until most came out and then put the plugs in and kick it in the guts .
I ran my saw ,a 044 Stihl on 50:1, for probly 2hrs ( not sure ) and that was knockin on 30 years ago now and it stihl runs fine ( 😆 see what I did there 😁😁). I sure wouldnt do it intentionally ,and I suspect prolonged use wouldnt do it any good ,and I always run my 2 strokes on 95-96 (ron) octane .🙂

New Stihl products have a PLASTIC crankcase.----Careful with what you run through them.

BRP Engine Cleaner or Mercury's Engine Tuner, are 2 of the better Ring unstickers in 2 strokes.
CRC gdi ivd intake valve cleaner is also really good for that too.

Place the piston high up in the cylinder to cover the Ports, and spray in a couple teaspoonfuls, and let it sit for a couple of days

I dunno , Id probly crap out in that heat before the saw did .
Was about 10 years ago. Palm tree dies, so I thought WTH..... Since I have saw in hand, let's make a Tiki..... Fell the tree leaving 6' of trunk.....About an hour into carving on it the saw just goes "THWAAK!!!!!" And that was all it had.

Finished it up with the electric saw
