I accidentally broke a ring on the piston and I can’t seem to find anything. Does the Tanaka piston ring work? Or do I need to look elsewhere? If so, where?

Gee, wouldn't it depend on who made the engine for Sears? Some were Mccullough, some were Eska, some were other brands.

You also might check the Sears Parts web site as they have some surprising stuff still avail.

I would mic the piston in 4 locations and the cylinder and find one for that size. Mfg doesn't really matter

It's either a Mac or Tecumseh (eska)

ring gap would be in the spec's. Do you have a model # that would REALLY help
