here are the pics of the general lee that I have been promising to some of you. We arent quite done yet, as we still need to add the chopped 6" tinted windshield (for looks) and I still need to paint on the rebel flag on the hood. Other than that she is done as far as I am concerned and this thing get a lot of looks at the lake. Not bad for a boat that I bought for $20. We have less than $500 total in this boat. It is powered by a 1983 johnson 50Hp that moves it at about 31 mph with 2 people in it, and around 28mph with 4 passengers. It is definitely fun!! Hope you enjoy. This is my first time using photobucket so I hope it works!

Nicly done! Do you have the horn as well?

You should paint the motor orange and put the flag on it as well!

Nice painting did you spray it on?

i thought you were crazy, when you first mentioned this project. you proved me wrong. great job. you also need to get a 3x5 flag to fly on the stern.

Re: pics of the general lee

we were thinking of flying a flag on each rear corner of the boat. We have an air horn off of a military 6x6, but the classic "01" would be nice too.

Absolutely was. Daisy's Cougar was an awesome ride. (Never liked the Jeep much!)

actually there was not racisim in the Dukes. it was a comedy, that the sheriff was always the brunt of the joke. and had a family type fealing. just go ole hillbilly fun.

now lets get back to the meaning of this post. the General Lee.

Re: pics of the general lee

Let me say that this project boat has nothing to do with race, or any kind of discrimination/hatred of others in any way, shape, or form. This was simply a fun idea that a friend and I put together, and one that we actually followed through with (rare). I am 23 years old, so I don't even know how this flag symbol was used in its discriminitory times, but I can assure you that this purely a theme boat that is meant for fun, and I appologize if it offends anyone, but that is your problem not mine. You can't please everyone.

Do you have any before pictures of your boat? I would also be interested in seeing the inside! Did you mix the paint yourself?

Re: pics of the general lee

The inside floor is painted a tan color, just like the original general lee. The seats are re-upholstered white back to back lounge style seats that fold out. We also made a cool toggle switch for the bilge pump. It is one of those where you have to first flip up the red plastic protector before you can actually hit the switch, like you see on top gun in the cockpit. I thought it was cool. Previously it was just an old faded teal green boat, with bad seats and a 20hp johnson. Now it has the 50hp. Actually the paint is just allis chalmers orange from the local hardware store. We sanded the boat and cleaned it reallly well, then painted it with a $10 harbor freight hvlp paint sprayer. We added hardener and used a good quality paint thinner that was $30 a gallon. The paint dried pretty hard, and then we waxed it to give it some protection. It is pretty cheap, and I know it is redneck and some of you are thinking that we didn't do a quality job. How long will the paint job last, I don't know but it hasnt came off yet. It was a low budget project, and it gets a lot of looks at the lake. People always want pictures and video footage of us and we like the attention. We were thinking we could take it to a lake with a lot of rich people who have kids who get whatever they want and cruise around on july 4 with a 4sale sign on it and see how much we could get out of it, but then again we wouldn't have a cool boat anymore if we did that.
