who thinks this may work? .... instead of mounting it "up" under a truck .... it gets mounted "down" on the front of the bow? may take care of some of the short shafted transom motors .....

sorta like this .....

Keep in mind a transom mounted motor is designed to push a boat-
Bow mounted to pull-
Your handle/prop are going in different directions on each model :)

This might work for your boat MT3, but the AL step would serve double duty with a small 1/4" plate welded to it. Lots of options to be sure, I kinda like the step idea...custom is always cool.

P.S. Thanks for the PM'ed link for the AL caps. ;)

i did see that pre-fabbed unit from basspro ... but it lacks symmetry ... i like things to be balanced visually .... i also feel like that universal mount lacks in looks .... call me vain!

MinnKota makes a pontoon mount that will work for you. With the step setup, how would you tilt the motor 90 degrees out of the water when not in use.

How about a simple flip ladder like this with a flat mounting plate clamped between the rails to hold a trolling motor. The mount plate can be as simple as a two pieces of mahogany bolted together with recesses grooved for the rails. The hardest part is designing a latching mechanism to keep the ladder deployed and locked down.

In hindsight perhaps one of those small OB mounts is better if you don't mind drilling holes in your hull.
