getting to the point, i honestly haven't learned crap lol.....my teacher sucks.....looks like this is just another teach myself class but physics is such a difficult subject
especially when i'm taking calc this year.....

http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=432920

Re: Physics stinks!

it happened to me last year with pre-calc. my teacher was stupid. the first week of school we spent the whole week working on 1 or 2 bellwork problems

she lost our tests and gave it back to us to finish a month later

i had to show her that all of my answers were correct when she marked half of them wrong

she ruined math for me. thank God my calc teacher this year is amazing but calc is such a difficult subject too.....

Re: Physics stinks!

Reminds me of when I was taking calc based physics 1. The teacher told us going into the final that she intentionally designed her final so no one can get an A. She said as a matter of factly, that in her 25 years of teaching, only one person had ever achieved that feat and he is now a professor at Harvard. Great I says, WTH is the point on studying then. Oh BTW no one recieved an A on the final in that class.

Ohhhh, man!! Fizix is how to figure out anything that moves. It really rocks.:)

I hear your pain, Cool Dude, but your complaint is the teachers, not the subject.

Oh man, physics was rough. X and Y were fine but when they threw in the Z it was all over

Don't even get me started on calculus. Calc was the death of me in college.

Re: Physics stinks!

I went to Colonial High in Orlando and Physics was one of my favorite subjects. Mrs. Himes and I had a love/hate relationship. I do remember setting off over a 1,000 fruit flies off in her office because she really ticked me off. It was timed and I was conveniently absent when they hatched. I had to answer to my future (though I did not know that then) Father in Law the next day. It was hard to keep a straight face but I escaped the school's wrath. I never did confess that sin to him. :D High School was such fun!!!

Re: Physics stinks!

physics is fun.
as long as your math background is strong it's not too bad, and you often times get to smash things together in lab :D

now meteorology, that's some bo-ring stuff. I always hated it and took a fair amount. Retained nothing.

Calculus makes my soul cry..

My introdction to physics was a class refered to buy the professor that taught it as "Physics for poets":D

that was enough for me. I feel your pain as well.

I liked meteorology, but I'm a geosciences major.

Re: Physics stinks!

lololol CASEY ANTHONY WENT TO COLONIAL!

nice guy, can't teach. simple enough..

i took physics in hopes that i could gain interest in it.

School is for learning and here you have the opportunity to learn how to deal with people in authority that are less than stellar. Good training for later in life and you have a brain dead boss.

^^^^ i had to go through this last year with my pre-calc teacher. i basically went into calc with just algebra 2 behind me.

don't get me wrong though! physics is a tough subject too! just wish i teacher who could teach it and not make me fall asleep....maybe he'll change and things will be better after thanksgiving break.

i should've set off the fruit flies last year in my chemistry teacher. THE MOST BIASED TEACHER EVER. she somehow always found something wrong with my work.

passed with a 69.7 :p CCCCCCCCC

Re: Physics stinks!

Physics is phun!

Standard deviates study math...meteologists have both feet planted firmly in the air...oceanogrphers are all wet...geologists have rocks in their heads...biologists are buggy...chemists are elemental...Stellar people take up astro-physics...

The laws of physics rule the universe! :D

Don't let one teacher (of any subject) ruin things for you. Ask questions & if you don't "appreciate" the answer then rephrase it and ask again. Physics is not difficult if you approach it in a logical and detailed manner.

When you get into college you'll appreciate the AP background.

Re: Physics stinks!

I had a great meteorology Prof in college. It was a morning class and I loved to go to class. Guy had to be pushing 80. Had tons of stories from the air force and he'd just tell stories all day.

Wait maybe he wasn't that great of a teacher :D

Re: Physics stinks!

I think it comes down to the the quality of the teacher.
I'm a looong way from intelligent but Physics was my all-time favorite subject. Been out of school for 38 years but still remember my teacher, Mr. Reuss. He was one of those teachers that all the kids liked because he made learning exciting and fun.

Chemistry, OTOH just sucked. Even though my father was a chemical engineer I couldn't 'get it'.

Re: Physics stinks!

I complained about every math course I ever took, wondering, like every highschool kid, when I was ever going to use any of it.

Turns out, you use it everywhere. Turns out, I really like Trig. That lightbulb finally lit when I was in the weld shop in college, trying to figure out what length of steel I needed to make a 24" diameter steel ring I could stretch a piece of hammered copper over, and another ring that would press fit over the first and the copper to hold it in place.

Made a pretty cool cocktail table I ended up giving my aunt for Christmas.

Re: Physics stinks!

This guy is a good teacher:
http://www.khanacademy.org/
Some schools are now using these lectures as part of their curriculum.

i've looked into the khanacademy guy! he really helps! with my magnet program and the other rigorous courses it's been very difficult to do anything. finally! thanksgiving break:D

only time i start to understand something in physics is when it's related to cars or something. surprisingly boats are hard to understand.....
