At last I have installed smart Tabs on my 2008 Q4 Sf, not tried them yet as I have a 300 se fin fitted, should I remove this, if so I have some holes to fill suggestions appreciated.

I have included some photos, my boat was in the local marina for 5 months and parts of the engine have rusted (see photo) is this normal and does any one have suggestions for repair.

I also had a custom foul weather canopy made, looks a bit like the "Pope Mobile" but works well, I waited weeks and weeks for Dow Co to give me a price, ended up getting it done for half the price with a local guy.

Everything looks nice... my 2007 Q4 has a different transom so I was able to mount mine in inset section but they are a little closer together than yours.

What part of Orlando are you in? Wife and I live in Clermont. We've had our Tahoe out five times on the Clermont chain of lakes since we bought the Tahoe last month.

I live in a place called "Reunion" bottom of HWY 27 or I-4 exit 58.

I bought my boat from new late 2008 and have not used it for a full year, had last years tag sat on my desk, expired before I could stick it on the boat.
I must be nuts.
This site has been great, hence the smart tabs, I am determined to get some useage, still not sure about the 300 se fin I fitted last year, not sure if I should remove it and if so best way to fill the bolt holes, any feed back would be very much appreciated, may be I can check out the Clermont chain some day, is that the Anderson Hill location.

You should remove the hydrofoil... everything I've read says that once you install smart tabs you should remove any type of hydrofoil.

Regarding the holes, you really don't need to fill them; it won't affect any performance. If it's going to drive you crazy appearance-wise, then you can fill them by taping the bottom of the hole and filling the hole with metal-filled epoxy, sand if necessary, and then spray some black, high gloss rustoleum.

Not sure where Anderson Hill is, I launch the boat in Lake Minneola near the Tiki Bar and downtown Clermont.

Right now the Tiki bar sounds good, I think I need some liquid refreshment.

Took the boat out this morning with the new tabs, left the old foil in place. put the bright shiney yellow thing in the water ready for action....turned it over...click..click clck, nothing.

I have not used the boat for a full year, I did however charge the batteries yesterday, anyway I left the boat in the water and went and bought a new battery, still, click click, the boats now back in my garage, could this be the starter motor,

any advice would be appreciated.

Anderson Hill is Lake Louisa, HWY 27. by the water tower.

Do you have the red button clicked upwards into the "run" position? A lot of people forget to make sure it's set to run before starting. Other than that, may be something to do with the starting system.

I went into Lake Louisa once by going through the Palatkaha canals. Looks like a nice like, might have to try it.

Tiki Bar is fun... $1 drafts, good cheeseburgers!

Daveboy,

Hey there. I'm a fellow Tahoe Q4 owner and I came across your thread here while reading about Smart Tabs installs. I installed them on my Q4 pretty much like you did and they work great.

While looking at your photos I liked how your guide-on posts looked. I was wondering how you were able to install them around the beam with that side step platform attached there. I'm guessing you just drilled holes in the platform to make the U bolts fit through. I'm thinking of maybe doing the same thing with similar guide-ons and I was concerned about how to install them with these Tahoe trailers. I guess I hadn't though of drilling through to make it fit. How do you like those guide-ons, do they work well for you?

One thing that concerns me in your picture is how the lower portion of the guide-on posts go under your boat bunks. I'd worry about hitting them when the boat is loading. I can't see all the bunks under there but I'm guessing it may lie under them and therefore wouldn't ever hit the boat but I can't really tell. I suppose I could cut the ends off if I felt it wound hit the boat.

Lastly, where did you get the side window things for your bimini? Is that a Tahoe accessory? I'm guessing it is since it contours perfectly to the boat.

I also liked where you placed your antenna. I have mine attached to my bimini pole with a pole mount but I kind of like your setup better. I may try that.

Where did you get the trailer guide posts? I have a 2005 Q6 and bought a set that wouldn't work. I think the ones you have would be perfect for mine.
