One is a 175hp ocean pro and the other is a 15hp. It goes about 40mph. Its a 1990 haul with 2000 motors. Just purchased it last week. I've been trying to find a boat like this for over a year. Need to find a Top for her. Sounds like you no about these winners. Maybe you can help me with some questions. I no the haul is wood free but what about the transom? Also, Were these boats made at? The Tennense Wiiner Plant or WisconsonThompson plant?

The transom has wood in it. Mine is an '86 and the transom is still perfect. Anyway, even if you did ever have to do the transom with the seacast method it's no biggie. The big plus with Winners is the no wood stringer system. The hulls are stiff as can be. These boats were way ahead of their time with their construction technique. Oh, and trim tabs a must. Use it well. Stu

Thank you Strumedic.
I agree about the design of this stringer system. It's great. I dont understand why they stop making these boats? The design is great.

Strumedic Can you help me with a few Question?
How does this design compare to the Boston Whaler? The Seacast Method. Is the seacast method a process for replacing or repairing the transom. The boat dealer checked the transom and reported it as 98%. I would like to check it myself. How can I check it?
My friend has a bad transom on his boat.
Is there a web site for Seacast Method of repairing transoms?t

Thanks

Sam

The SeaCast method is basically replacing the wood transom between the fiberglass "skins" of the transom with a composite resin material. If your transom is 98% then you have a long way to go before a repair is necessary. Just verify all your through-hull fittings and things screwed into the transom are sealed well and you should be in good shape.

Question boaters and owners: Help The owner of my boat sealed the floor hatchs with sealer. Is this a standard practice? I think I'm going to remove the sealer so I can open the hatchs. Should have done this before I purchased the boat.

Re: Photo's of my 2280 CC Winner

Sam, my 1850 Winner CC had the sealed hatch deal also. When I managed to get the hatch open I found another bait well filled with waterlogged foam. I have to assume that the boat didn't meet CG flotation spec and the easiest thing to do was to foam the baitwell. Anyway, I removed 2 1/2 garbage cans full of wet foam and now have more storage. Thanks Stumedic.
Was it the hatch behind the seats?
What do you mean assume that the boat didn't meet CG flotation spec?

The hatch you are referring to was already cleared out when I purchased my boat. There was one small trace of foam in the well; it is possible it was foamed in before.

Re: Photo's of my 2280 CC Winner

here is my guess on why the live well was filled with foam.

I had a 2280 sport cuddy. the live well filled with water every time it rained. if I opened the valve to the live well it did not drain unless I ran the boat on plane.

we had to empty it by hand every single time we got on the boat. a real pain. I thought of doing the same thing.
