PerTronix 1146A Ignitor for Delco 4 Cylinder Distributor

Do I need to remove the purple wire on the positive side? I see some videos on they do some videos they dont.

Ayuh,..... I believe it wants 12v to work properly, so test to see whether it's 12v or not,.....
