I have a 87 fiberglass bass boat that I recently acquired and the bottom of the hull looks like someone scraped it on the bottom of a rock, reef or something and has been patched at one time with a clear type of resin, however there is a area about 12 inches long where it's like the fiberglass is scraped off or something and hard to describe other than there is no fiberglass there....like a gash or something.

About half of bottom of the boat looks like it has that resin stuff on it already but the boat itself isn't taking on any water except in the bilge area and about 2 or 3 gallons accumulate after about an hour of use. What is the easiest way to fix this??? Would it be possible to just put some 3M 5200 and it seal ok?

A photo will be nice.anyway you will need to have access to the interior of the hull to fix it right, and you will need to clean and remove all bad glass and start by forming some thing to the shape of your hull and maybe you should read some of oops hull extension thread have some coffe ready befor you start reading it;) and you will be able to fix it right.http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=234392
