Hello!

I'm a new Member from Germany and I have a (little) Problem with my old Outboarder.

It's a Johnson 4BR71D wich dont want's to run any more. :(

I already have checked the fuel system - it's ok!
Now I think the troublemaker is the electric - but how can I check it?

BEcause of the age of the system I'm thinking of changing the ignition coils and the condensers. (The contact sets are locking fine.)

Which parts do I need and where and how can I order them?

with best regards
Micha Kw. ;)

You need to give us a little history on the motor, what it is (or not) doing and what you've done to correct it. Best of luck. Rick.

Hi Rick!

The Problem is, that the Motor does nothing! - It won't start! - The mechanic Part is ok. When pulling the starter rope the propeller starts spinning.

I think that there is a little ignition spark, but I don't know if it's strong enough to start the fire. (How much V and A must come out of the coils?)

I also don't know if the spark comes at the right moment... - How can I test it?

Sorry, but my english isn't the best... - sometimes there are some words missing in my mind...

Still hoping for help
Micha ;)

Well your English is far better than my German so lets keep going in English. You should try to obtain an original OMC service manual for your specific motor. You will greatly appreciate having it to guide you. Are you able to obtain parts and at a reasonable cost in Germany? If not I will not try to suggest new parts unless I really think it is a must. Rick.
