I need a starter recoil gear for a 1970 Wards Sea King engine. Does anyone know of a reliable place to get one? Thanks much!

If the model number prefix is VWB it was made by Chrysler.

This auction is for a new, never used original equiptment starter gear that was used on many many different years and models of outboard motors made for Montgomery Wards and Chrysler. If your starter looks like the schematic below odds are this is the starter gear you need. If in doubt send me an email or message with your make and model number and I will try to verify. For sure fits all 8 thru 15 hp models made from 1976 to 1987.

1-7/8" diameter
3/4" ID
13 teeth

Those gears were getting rare and very hard to find for awhile. Now they are on e-bay every day. I doubt the "original equipment" statement. Nevertheless even if they are reproductions, it is a good price. I know what it costs to reproduce parts like that.
