part missing will it matter?

I have a 60 hp.Johnson changed the lower leg on it but the one I used had a differtent pc. at the bottem.. right above the prop there is this little fin thing that bolted off. the problem is that the old fin thing will not bolt onto the new leg its totaly different I put the bolt in anyway ang tightened it down with out it. What is this and will I miss it ??

That is your trim tab to adjust out torque steer. Yes, it will probably matter.<br /><br />Get one that will fit.<br /><br />Good luck.
