I have searched this thread for my paticular question and could not find anything. I'm restoring a 1965 14' Larson Runabout and will need to repaint the bottom as well as the top half of the boat.

I have read on Interllux website that you are able to apply this paint using a roller and a brush for tiping out.

Has anyone had success with this or would it be a better choice to spray?

Pictures would be great if anyone has restored there boat using a roll on application.

Re: Painting Question

In addition to my paint question, has anyone taken a boat like mine and was able to roller it over on it's top after the engine and windshield where taken off? I was hoping to do this because it would be easier to paint the bottom.

Re: Painting Question

The roll and tip paint method works very well with marine paints. Need to follow the directions exactly as stated. No need to spray in my opinion. Less waste and safer. There are many good examples in this forum.

I wouldn't roll the boat. Put it on boat stands and move the stands as needed.

If the boat will stay in the water for any length of time (more than 2 days or so), avoid using topside paints on the bottom of the hull. I'm sure you saw that already, but I thought I would mention it.

Re: Painting Question

Actually you can roll it over easily with a couple of people and it will be much easier to paint. Take off the the stuff you mentioned, then put some padding down, tires, mattress, wood, whatever you can find, and flip it over. Raise it up to the level it needs to be for to you easily reach everything and your done, maybe 15 minutes.

Lots of info here about roll and tip, try a search again.

Re: Painting Question

This boat was roll/tipped using Interlux Perfection paint. I left it upright. Rolling the boat on its top would have been hard on my back. I read somewhere that due to the design of the paint, rolling produces a better shine than spraying. (who knows, rolling it is less involved anyway) This is the first coat of Perfection. Thanks for asking, I am always willing to brag.:D
