Painting Prep

I have a maxum 16ft Bowrider. I want to paint a 24in stripe down the side over the stripe that is there. Im tired of buffing it to keep the fade away. I have got the propper marine paint my friend accually owns a paint shop I was wondering the best way to prep it before I do it. thanks.

your paint shop friend can tell you the best way for the paint you have.

Wetsand the area to 400 grit, mask the area and prime and paint. Use the primer the paint company advises. I will assume the area you want to paint is just below the rubrail. If so, you can use top side 1or 2 part marine polyurethane.
