I have a question about temperatures for painting Interlux Perfection paint. I am all ready to start other than the weather is still cool here. The directions say the minimum temp to paint is 41 degrees. Does anyone know if I was to paint on a day in the 50's, but the temp dropped below 41 at night would that not work? I wanted to know if I painted early in the day above 41 and dried all day, but temp dropped below 41 at night is this ok? Anyone done this?
Thanks Randy

Re: Painting interlux Perfection in cool conditions

If you use the search function you will find volumes of info on this subject. However the quick and easy answer is no. Will the paint dry, perhaps in a couple of weaks. Interlux has a paint that is self leveling and they acheieve this thourgh the use of solvents and various chemicals which are very sensitive to heat and humidity. Low heat will cause a less that lusterful finish perhaps even a foggy one, as to heating garage the solvents they use in the paint are god awful smelling and i would expect volitale. (i tested a engine cover the stuff is obnoxious)

What is recomended is a high 70's and low mositure enviroment, and from the results on my engine cover @ those temps there paint is very impressive. Go to the interlux web site they have volumes of info. Good luck

Can you heat your work space? If so, try to get it warmer by using an electric heater. As long as the humidity is low, it will be ok. If you can roll the boat into the sun after the paint sets up, it will help a lot. The 2-parts of the paint should be at room temps before you start painting.
