I am planning to build my first homemade boat this summer and am starting to think this little project out. I'll be building a 14' epoxy over plywood 14' flat bottomed boat (the Garvey 14 from Bateau) that will be used mainly for river fishing, maybe some hunting down the road. It will be stored in a boat house when its not being used, with the exception of staying in the water over a weekend when we're at the cottage. My question is: can I use a topside paint to paint both the exterior of the hull and the interior? I'm thinking of Interlux Brightside Polyurethane, the BoatUS catalog says it can be used on "properly prepared epoxy". Do I have to first prime the boat, or can I just roll and tip right over the epoxy? Also, one more question: As far as epoxy goes, I've heard good things about West System on here, but I was wondering what advantages that brand has over other brands, i.e. durability, ease of application, etc. Is it worth an extra 100 bucks or so to go with West System over another brand? Thanks for all your expertise!
