Need some help. I have an old 15ft fiberglass bass boat. I am not restoring it, just trying to make it usable without spending alot of money. I would like to put some sort of clear coat on the outside above and below water line to make it look better and last longer. the paint looks fine but don't know if it is marine grade.
Can I just put a clear coat over the paint? And if so what should I use to do this?

Well, you are going to have a gel coat finish 90% of the time on a fiberglass boat. The elbow grease you'd have to invest getting it ready for a coat of clear could just as easily go into restoring the gel coat that is on there already...polish that bad boy up!

My brother did a 2 part clear - automotive paint 14 years ago and it is still 95% decent looking.
