Hi, I am new to this site. I am planning on restoring an older 12foot alumminum boat. How would do you paint the exterrior? Do you need to buy a special type of paint and how do you do it? thanks

Welcome degasus. I suspect when JB(forum moderator) has had his Cheerios, he'll move this post to the Boat Restoration and Building forum below. Do a search on that forum for "aluminum painting" and you'll get a wealth of information/opinion on how to successfully paint aluminum.

Not much on Cheerios BB....but love those corn flakes.... :)

Welcome aboard degasus! As BB posted, you'll have better luck in the "Boat Restoration and Building" forum. I'll move your post over there. Hope you find what you need.

Hi Degasus,

Haven't had too much experience on the aluminum boat side, but you might try checking out Interlux's or Alwgrip's websites. A few of the guys here have painted aluminum boats, I'm sure one will come along with some good info.

Degasus Welcome.

In the first reply, BoatBouy suggested doing a search. Use the red search button at the top of the page and type in "painting aluminum" there will be more information to look at than you may need. If you still have questions, then post them, you will get answers.
