Question for all the expert roll and tip folks. Right now I have gray on the sides of my boat. Im wondering if its possible to tape off the design like the boat in my avatar and then roll and tip a blue ontop of the gray? (So pull off the masking tape and have the stripes left behind in gray). I know it works with a sprayer but since Im rolling it on I was curious if it would be an issue.

Re: Paint/Masking question

yes it's possible, I would make sure to use fine line tape (not the garden variety masking tape) and work with VERY thin coats; really push the paint out of the roller before applying to the hull otherwise you will get runs. I would look at trying to do all of the coats in the same day (probably 3-4 very thin coats rather than the typical 2-3)and pull the tape as soon as the last coat starts to tack. One thing that I would seriously consider though, is sending the logo to a vinyl place and have them cut you the decal. It's pretty reasonable and could probably be done for less $$ than the cost of the paint materials. Just my 2-cents...
