paint bottom area, how much area?

I am ready to paint my boat and am not sure of how much of the bottom to paint. Just the area that is in the water or more and how much more. Im lost with this one. I have seen pictures of boats with a different color on the bottom and probably only the area that is in the water. I will be using the same color as the top and have decided to use Interlux Brightsides with Pre-kote primer. Bottom with Int- Epoxycop and Primocon primer. Its a 16 footer and trailered.

I would paint up to the rub rail if you have one. Or where the bottom and sides ends and the top begins. A sort of delineation so to speak, as opposed to just picking one somewhere.<br /><br />Dave..
