I have a 1965 30' Owens Flagship Cruiser running twin 225hp 327's. It has a slightly bent v-strut on the starboard side from where the previous owner lost a game of chicken with some immovable object. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source for replacement parts or if some of the struts on these older boats were shared amongst brands. I've had no luck finding a replacement. Maybe someone knows of a boat "junkyard" that may carry something like this? So far all of my inquiries for fabricating a new strut are falling a bit on the pricey side. From what I understand most of the boats of this size use single leg struts as opposed to V-struts. Any advice?

Have you contacted your local prop recon shops and see if they can straighten your original unit.

its either attemt to straighten it or call the buck algonquin company. they have helped me before with struts and rudder ports that are obsolete. but it is a tad pricy. we have a lot of water here but some of it is right thin :) :)

Straightening is going to be hit or miss since the fellow at the boatyard says it actually has a crack in it. We'll see if it can be braised and squared back up but I figured I'd get my ducks in a row in case it can't.

if its cracked scrap it.
most cast parts that are load bearing dont weld or braze well.
quite a bit of the old stuff for, owens, chris craaft and other old woodies and early glass cruisers were made for a specific hull. some caasting companies actually still have them. may take a while to get it but its usually avalible. at a price.

Do as rodbolt said and get in touch with buck algonquin and see if they can match up one for you as they probably made the original one.
