Overheating

Did you pull out the thermostat & test it for opening temp?

No I just put a new one in last weekend. I think I'm going to pull it out and test it. Eventhough it's new it still could be bad.

I have a 2003 mercruiser 5.0 carborated. It started with my port riser getting warmer then the starboard and the alarm went off then i had replaced the impeller the water circulation pump and the thermostat and the risers were cool again. But the thermostat was hot and still sending an alarm. The risers and manifold's were replaced last year and I am still slightly overheating at the thermostat. The alarm starts to beap around above 2000 rpm then stops beaping once on plain. Manifolds and risers feel cool to touch thermostat housing is hot to touch. Doesn't seem to be a head gasket no water in oil and engine doesn't miss. After I turn it off I let it sit to see if risers are leaking down into cylinders to check if it gets hydro locked but it starts right up. It runs about 175 to 190 when getting ready to plain. At idle 175 on plain 180 185 wich is still to high. Please help I hope you have enough information?

inspect the combustion chamber .....the head gasket ...inspect the exhaust elbow ..

You perform your own maintenance but rely on a repair center for "bigger" jobs, correct?

Unless you have fair witness of your sea water pump in the drive you're relying on someone else's opinion

Correct I do all the work except the heavy stuff im disabled in my right hand so things like the impeller i have to send out. I trust the repair center to do the job properly several family and friends take there boats there to get repaired there over several years and none of them have had a come back.

I'm in this form because I'm doing everything I possibly can by trouble shooting and consulting with people who may know what it is or have come across this issue. I also thank you for all the help and knowledge. Trust me I'm going try to do everything you had mentioned myself and if I can't physically then I have to depend on the shop.
