Overheating

Don't see an issue with the impeller, but using an Alpha drive with a HE is not the best. The Alpha may not move enough water.

Maybe try something. Disconnect and plug the small hose (both ends) going to the top fitting. My thought is this might move more AF to the block when the thermostat opens.

Do I really need to have raw water and closed cooling. Is there any benefit or can I get rid of the closed cooling and run raw water only

The benefit is because you get in salt water and easier to winterize. If fresh then no issue with corrosion.

Even if its removed you will need another thermostat housing

I'm curious about the raw water inlet at transom on inside of boat. I tried running some wire through it and didn't seem to wanna go. There are 2 bolts holding a flange on. Does that brass inlet pipe come off?

It should be part of the transom assembly and does not come off. The hose makes a hard turn and down the inside of the assembly

So if it corroded and squeezing the rubber hose insert and restricting flow like I've seen on posts here what do I do

I shouldn't have said it doesn't come off, it does but need to remove the bell housing on the out side of the transom assembly to remove.

If the wire isn't flexible enough it could get hung in the bend. HE are normally not used with alpha drives because they don't move enough water

This could be an issue and partial block I'm assuming...can I just straightn that rubber boot and slide water tube in

My issue is there should be a tube coming from it, and thought it was part of the piece. Not being sure is why I'm asking others @Bt Doctur maybe

There is a metal tube and a rubber type boot. However it seems loose

I have removed my heads and the intake gaskets didn't look good and the head gaskets looked borderline...here is picture of top end

And here's the heads...they all look in good shape to me what do you think

Allright yet another issue...one of my heads the valve seals were all big. On the other head there was 1 big 1 small...does it matter is the question or can I leave it all with the big ones that I got

Assuming umbrella type seals
The valve seals should fit the stems and guides. If they are to big that's not good. If they are to small where it doesn't cover the guide is also not good
